Explore the sights and sounds that Crockett staffers consider among San Antonio's best. From music fests to city-wide celebrations to landmark attractions, these experiences just can't be beat.

Hop-On Hop-Of

London and New York aren't the only cities that offer sightseeing tours on double-decker buses. In San Antonio, the Hop-On Hop-Off bus tour is a convenient and reliable way to get to major attractions without the fear and worry of getting lost. The tour is especially great for those who are visiting San Antonio for the first time, as the bus drivers are friendly and rich in local knowledge.

The upper decks of these red buses offer the best views of "River City." The tour begins at the Alamo Plaza, which is only a five minute walk from the Crockett Hotel. Once you board, you can hop on and hop off any time you'd like, buses pick up at each stop on the hour. Most travelers buy the 48-hour pass because there are so many things to see that you just can't hit them in all in day (And because it's only five more dollars than the 24 hour pass).

After the Alamo, the bus stops at breweries, art museums, history museums, BBQ restaurants, and the Riverwalk, among others. The first stop after the Riverwalk is the San Fernando Cathedral and Spanish Governor's Palace. The cathedral, which dates back to 1738, is home to Texas's oldest continuously functioning religious community. The Spanish Governor's palace, also constructed in the 18th century, was the capitol building of the former Tejas region of Spanish Texas. After the San Fernando Cathedral and Spanish Governor's Palace is El Mercado, also known as Market Square, in the "Zona Cultura." Here you can find authentic Mexican cuisine, music, and shopping. It is the single largest Mexican market in the United States.

Finally, make sure ride to The Tower of the Americas, one of the last stops on the tour. This 750 foot tower delivers a panoramic view of the city -- an even more impressive view than the rooftop of a double-decker bus.

Address: Alamo Plaza, San Antonio, TX 78205
