Explore the sights and sounds that Crockett staffers consider among San Antonio's best. From music fests to city-wide celebrations to landmark attractions, these experiences just can't be beat.

Explore the Famous San Antonio Riverwalk

Located in the middle of San Antonio and just steps away from the historic Crockett Hotel is the top visited spot in Texas: the San Antonio Riverwalk. It’s home to a variety of restaurants, shops and a selection of entertainment – from waterparks to museums – all bordering a winding river that runs through the city. First discovered in 1536, the river has since then been preserved and protected by The Paseo del Rio Association and, in turn, making it impossible for anyone to be bored in the city of San Antonio. Satisfy your tastebuds with Riverwalk’s many restaurants, ranging from fine dining to casual dining and everything in between. Almost all the restaurants are right on the water, so having a wonderful view is pretty much guaranteed. For a casual lunch date with friends, we recommend the Iron Cactus Mexican Grill and Margarita Bar, voted "Best Restaurant on the River" in 2014. Probably because they feature over 100 different tequilas and a very tempting Happy Hour menu. For an elegant, romantic night out, try the Paesanos River Walk, home to classic Mediterranean and contemporary Italian dining. The Lemon Peppered Salmon hits the spot every time, as well as their impressive wine list.

If you’re looking for a shopping experience that’s a little more exciting than the standard shopping mall, you’ve come to the right place. La Villita Historic Arts Village, located south of the River Walk, is considered to be one of San Antonio’s first neighborhoods. Established nearly 300 years ago, La Villita is home to 30 shops and galleries of handcrafted items from San Antonio’s local artists, so you know you’re always shopping for a one-of-a-kind item. Experiencing everything that the Riverwalk has to offer is impossible to accomplish in a day. But with the Crockett Hotel just across the way, a second day of exploring San Antonio’s best attraction is effortless.
