Authentic Mexican Markets

This month we want to introduce you to Centro Cultural Aztlan and El Mercado, two markets serving up authentic Mexican flavor.

The Centro Cultural Aztlan is a community organization with the “mission to preserve, develop, and promote Chicano/Latino art and culture.”  They host a certified farmers market every third Saturday from 9am – 2pm.

If you’re looking for Mexican street food and city life, then El Mercado is the spot.  More than your traditional farmers market, there are over 32 shops selling piñatas, sombreros, and more.  It really lights up after dark with Guadalajara lamps and mariachi bands.

San Antonio is a veritable farmers market haven.  In Alamo City you can find a market every day of the week, except on Mondays.  Which means whether you’re looking for organic fruits and veggies or Mexican chilies and salsas, there are dozens of choices close to the Crockett Hotel.
